Behind the Work
About Samiyah - Founder of Owning Monday
I’ve moved through life with resilience. From caring for my grandparents as a teenager into adulthood, to raising my son as a single mother, I've learned early how to hold others while still finding ways to hold myself. Those years taught me presence, clarity, and the importance of staying whole while navigating responsibility. Those lessons now shape the way I support leaders and organizations.
Owning Monday was born in a moment of truth: realizing I didn’t want to dread Mondays anymore. I wanted to take my power back, show up fully, and feel the same energy on Monday that I felt on Friday. That shift became a movement, a commitment to helping people reclaim how they work, lead, and live.
Professionally, I’ve spent over 15 years building HR systems, leading people operations, and partnering with organizations to create workplaces that actually support the humans inside them. I believe HR isn’t just compliance or processes. It’s culture, clarity, and the difference between fueling someone’s growth or draining their spirit.
My wellness journey grew alongside my HR journey. Through grief, loss, and healing, I learned how breath, mindfulness, and presence transform the way we lead and the way we work. Today, I bring both sides together: the strategy and the humanity, the structure and the stillness.
Owning Monday exists to help leaders and teams build workplaces rooted in clarity, alignment, and well-being. My work blends HR expertise with mindful leadership so organizations can function better, feel better, and grow with intention.
If you’re looking for grounded partnership, honest support, and a human-centered approach to people and culture, you’re in the right place.
